In 2016, the U.S. NTIA is expected to transition its historic stewardship role to ICANN, the organization responsible for managing the Internet’s domain name system. The transition includes developing a governance system with new mechanisms to hold ICANN accountable to the global multi-stakeholder community. This change comes at a time of dramatic expansion of the DNS with hundreds of new top level domains delegated.
The panel will examine the new structure and its impact on the Internet ecosystem in key areas including trademarks and brands, dispute resolution, and operational stability.
