Ideomed providing its Ebola screening and monitoring app to CDC at no cost
A third person has been diagnosed with Ebola in the United States and at least 125 patients are now being monitored for symptoms. President Obama has cancelled his travel plans to coordinate a national Ebola response strategy while airports across the country are beefing up security to prevent the spread of the virus.
The app industry is also stepping in to lend its support.
Michigan-based app company Ideomed has just adapted its popular Abriiz® app to help screen and monitor persons who may have been exposed to the deadly Ebola virus. The app is incredibly simple.
Abriiz® provides an interface to track patients’ temperature, pain, and movement while providing timely reminders to the patient or caregiver to take temperature and check in with a healthcare provider. Patient data recorded in the app is uploaded in real time to their care team, even those in home-based quarantine. If intervention is needed, clinicians can communicate instructions directly through Abriiz®.

Abriiz® also meets HIPAA privacy guidelines and has been favorably reviewed by the FDA.
Ideomed is providing the app at no-cost to the Centers for Disease Control and other federal agencies fighting this outbreak.
It is available in the Apple App Store here, and in the Google Play store here. Use of the Ebola function will require special registration through Ideomed.
