WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the draft Executive Order on AI preemption, ACT | The App Association has issued the following statement:

“We’ve got to put an end to the see-sawing and half measures when it comes to AI innovation guidelines,” said Morgan Reed, president of ACT | The App Association. “We need a clear framework that avoids a patchwork of state requirements so that small innovators can continue creating the AI applications that make AI a practical and useful everyday tool for consumers and businesses. The chaos of 50 different sets of rules will lead to the same kind of delays in development and deployment we are seeing in the European Union. Congress should prioritize swift action on a single federal standard to drive innovation and maintain the United States’ global AI leadership. The Executive Order is a clear signal that the President is ready to sign and implement a preemptive federal framework from Congress.”
