In response to the European Commission releasing their first review of the adequacy decision of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, ACT | The App Association issued the following statement:
“For many App Association members, it is vital that personal data is able to flow freely from the EU to the United States. For this reason, we have strongly advocated for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework,” said Morgan Reed, President of ACT | The App Association. “A full year since its implementation, the adequacy review and decision announced this past week is an important step in recognizing the success of the framework.”
Since the framework was finalized, App Association members have continued to brief government officials and regulators in both the United States and EU on its implementation, helping to also inform this report. The establishment of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework remains critically important to ensuring that small businesses and app developers continue to compete and reach customers in both markets. The App Association will continue to support the framework and encourage regulators on both sides of the Atlantic to prioritize rules and regulations around data privacy that support competition and innovation while protecting consumers.
