May 1, 2022 – Today, ACT | The App Association released a statement from president Morgan Reed celebrating Small Business Week:

“This week is National Small Business Week — an opportunity to celebrate our small business members and the impact they have on their local communities and the app economy at large. America’s small businesses are the backbone of innovation, driving solutions that power how we live, work, and play through safe, secure, connected technology.

“During times of economic uncertainty, small businesses have proven to be resilient fixtures in their communities. We saw this with member company Vēmos at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. They held the Bridge the Gap virtual concert, where proceeds were donated to hospitality industry professionals affected by the COVID-19 shutdowns. We have continued to see our small business members step up each year at AppCon, our annual conference, as they advocate for legislation that keeps big business in check while also empowering small businesses across the app economy.

“This year is no exception. We’re excited to welcome our members back to Washington, D.C. – for the first time in two years – for AppCon’22: Global Competition and Privacy. On May 22-24, our members will travel to our nation’s capital for three days of education and advocacy around pending platform legislation and the privacy risks they and their customers face if implemented.

“Our small business members lead their communities and work tirelessly to drive innovation in today’s app economy, all of this with the privacy and security of their customers and clients in mind. This Small Business Week, and every week, we must work to protect and empower America’s small businesses the same way their leadership and innovations have protected and empowered us.

“The $6.3 trillion global app economy is driven by small businesses like member company Canned Spinach, a team of five creating innovative mobile and web applications for big-name clients like the Miami Dolphins and Toyota. We’re excited to celebrate them and all of our small business members, and we hope you’ll join us in supporting and celebrating their work and impact on our global app economy.

“Happy Small Business Week!”
