Did you develop an app for Apple’s App Store? Was it available between 2015 and 2021? Was the app free with in-app purchases or a subscription? Paid? YOU could be entitled to financial compensation! No . . . really . . . we’re serious. Despite the lighthearted, informercial-for-a-questionable-law-firm tone of our introduction, thousands of developers are eligible for a payment ranging from $250 to $30,000 or more and we’re here to help connect developers to the funds they deserve.

Background TL;DR

Late last year, Apple reached a settlement in an antitrust class-action lawsuit brought by U.S. app developers about Apple’s App Store (Cameron, et al. v. Apple Inc.). The lawsuit alleged that Apple monopolized (or attempted to monopolize) an iOS app and in-app product distribution services market. While this action did not result in a final judgment on the allegations, it led to a settlement in the form of payment for independent iOS developers using the platform between 2015 and 2021.

How to APP-ly

In order to qualify – you (or the client(s) for which you develop apps) – must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S.-based developer of any Apple iOS application or in-app product – including subscriptions;
  • Sold your app or in-app product or subscription for a non-zero price ($0.99 & up) between 2015 and 2021; and
  • Earned equal to or less than $1,000,000.00 through the App Store U.S. storefront in every calendar year from 2015 to 2021 in which you had a developer account.

If that sounds like you, file a e-claim here no later than May 20, 2022. The form can be filled out and submitted completely online at https://www.smallappdeveloperassistance.com/ where developers can also calculate their estimated payout and learn more about the details of the settlement.

H-APP-Y filing!
