Yesterday, the White House honored ACT | The App Association member Amy Gleason as a Precision Medicine “Champion of Change.” Amy is the Chief Operating Officer of Tampa-based CareSync, a mobile platform that organizes a patient’s health records across all health systems into a single, comprehensive Health Timeline™. The company’s user-friendly applications empower patients to take control of their healthcare data and experience.

After facing frustrations accessing medical data for her sick child, Amy was inspired to start CareSync. Without a single repository for medical records, doctor’s notes, and tests results, she and her young daughter endured years of missed diagnoses and exorbitant medical record fees. This harrowing experience drove her to create a service that makes it easy for patients to access their medical records.

The President’s Precision Medicine Initiative was launched earlier this year to enable a new era of medicine through research and technology that empowers patients, researchers, and providers to work together toward development of individualized treatments.

Amy’s work and personal experience exemplify the qualities for which Champions of Change and the Precision Medicine Initiative were created. We look forward to our continued work with Amy to help improve patient access to their own critical health data.
