We liken ourselves to being fairly humble people at The App Association, but when we saw the barrage of incredibly positive numbers from Apple this week, we couldn’t help but pat ourselves on the back!

Of course I’m referring to the massive amount of iOS apps – $500 million worth, to be exact – downloaded in the first week of 2015 following posts from Morgan Reed and me. This, coupled with the $10 billion in revenue that app makers earned through the App Store in 2014 (oh, and $25 billion since its creation, by the way), truly makes us blush.

All joking aside, Apple’s recent announcements are proof of the continued boom in the app economy, and the amazing opportunities provided to app companies by the iOS platform. App makers aren’t the only ones benefitting from the growing Apple ecosystem. In total, the company has created or supported over 1 million jobs in the United States alone (that’s everything from retail to marketing to coding).

So while we can’t take all the credit for the app industry’s tremendous first week of the year, we’re thrilled to see app makers (and those in roles supporting them) thriving, and consumers enjoying the amazing world of apps.
