The Washington Post has a very interesting article written by Microsoft chairman Bill Gates in which Gates emphasizes the importance of math and science education and sensible immigration policies for American competitiveness.

According to Reuters, “IBM is not ready to guarantee that its computer programs are compatible with Oracle Corp.’s recently launched version of the Linux operating system, an IBM spokesman said on Friday.”

The International Herald Tribune reports that “in the competition for contextual text ads — those small sponsored links that run adjacent to related articles online — both [Google and Yahoo!] are facing a challenge from a tiny but growing adversary named Quigo Technologies, a New York-based ad service that bills itself as an alternative to the giants.”

In another Google story, CNetNews.com writes that “Google, fighting to consolidate its trademark globally, faces an obstacle in the world’s second largest Web market–China’s www.gmail.cn, which is refusing to sell its Internet address to the U.S. giant.”

According to The Register, “EMI has broken off talks with digital music download services about providing a DRM-free repertoire.”
