A Fireside Chat with Chris Sims, CEO of CAVU, and Nikos Kiourtis, Co-Head of Research and Development at Quokka

This October, ACT | The App Association joined the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) in leading a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise cybersecurity awareness nationally and internationally for small and medium-sized businesses.

This year during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the “See Yourself in Cyber” theme demonstrated that while cybersecurity may seem like a complex subject, ultimately, it’s really about people. Throughout the month, CISA, NCA, and their partners provided information and resources to help educate the small business community and the public at large to ensure individuals and organizations make the best decisions about cybersecurity right now and in the future.

Our event, a fireside chat with App Association members, explored the biggest threats facing small businesses, what measures should be taken to mitigate vulnerability, and how technical frameworks like SCRUM help put people at the center of cybersecurity. Cyber expert Nikos Kiourtis, co-head of research and development from member Quokka, provided practical strategies and resources to mitigate risk from the small business perspective, and fellow member Chris Sims, CEO of CAVU, provided context and insights about the way SCRUM and best cyber practices go hand-in-hand.
