A clown, a rabbit, and the Pope walk into a bar. Which one
is against IP?
OK, that’s putting it sort of harshly. And maybe it’s not
even something that I should joke about. But the Pope did issue (is that the
right word?) a cyclical last week in which he comes out against
intellectual property, specifically in health care.
I’m not quite sure what to make of this news. Will some of my fellow Protectors of IP, the
ones who bow to the Holy Father, have to choose new issues on which to work?
What about the rest of us? Do we need to reconsider our positions? Why do I
feel guilty already, even though I’m not Catholic?
And what about the open source and anti-IP crowd? Will they apply their religious-like
zeal toward an actual religion?
I have so many questions.
