ACT | The App Association Statement on U.S.-Indonesia Trade Deal

WASHINGTON, DC – ACT | The App Association applauds the announcement of the Framework for an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade between the United States and Indonesia.

In the Framework, Indonesia has committed to reducing or eliminating specific trade barriers that threaten the vibrancy and competitiveness of small American tech companies operating in or considering entering the Indonesian market.

“This is another win for U.S. small tech developers,” said Morgan Reed, president of ACT | The App Association. “For years the App Association and our members have raised concerns with the U.S. Trade Representative regarding Indonesia’s inclusion of software and other digital goods in their tariff system, among several other digital trade barriers. We thank USTR and the Administration for their tireless work on behalf of small tech companies and look forward to our continued work strengthening American competitiveness globally. Further, we commend the Indonesian government for joining the United States in committing to support a World Trade Organization agreement that ensures countries will not apply taxes or customs duties to digital service transmissions.”
