ACT | The App Association Statement on Financing and Scaling Report

Association for Competitive Technology
LONDON – Commenting on the Government’s response to the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee report on Financing and Scaling UK Science and Technology, ACT | The App Association (ACT) UK Country Manager Stephen Tulip said:
‘It is encouraging to see the Government engaging positively with the recommendations in the report, but activity does not necessarily equal achievement. It remains to be seen how effective these Government initiatives are at supporting startups and small businesses like ACT’s members.
‘The key priority for our members is simplification. Startups do not have the resources to wade through Government bureaucracy, and this alone is a major barrier to many of the finance and procurement opportunities that are available. Ensuring efficiency and transparency is important when awarding government contracts, but it is vital that Government listens to startups and small businesses to ensure that all regulatory measures are proportionate and do not come with unintended consequences that hold back SMEs in the science and tech space’.
