Spotify’s App Store demands undermine trust in app ecosystem

Earlier today, it was reported that Spotify is seeking preferential treatment in Apple’s App Store. In response, Morgan Reed, executive director of ACT | The App Association, released the following statement:

We are disappointed that Spotify is attempting to undermine key elements of the App Store ecosystem. Spotify isn’t asking to level the playing field, it wants special treatment. Demanding that Apple give Spotify preferential treatment would put new entrants at an enormous disadvantage, while undermining the trust between the App Store and consumers.
