First Sale Doctrine and Why Digital Goods Are Different
While there are still several months left in 2014, the IP policy world is already looking to the new year and a new Congress. One issue that we see coming up again is digital First Sale. All of us, at one time or another, have bought something used. Whether it is a trip to Goodwill or browsing eBay or craigslist, we are all familiar with the “secondary market” for used physical goods like books, CDs, artwork, or video games. It [...]
Tech’s takeover of midterm elections
Back in 2012, we told you all about apps and technology needed to navigate the Republican and Democratic Conventions. Two years later, we find ourselves weeks from the hotly contested 2014 midterm elections – and are seeing new election tech pop up everywhere. My Life in Apps: Recent grad, new city
After four years filled with studies (and a fair amount of non-academic activities) in the small town of Oxford, Ohio, I truly had no idea where I’d end up after graduation from Miami University. But following a series of events (see above link), I became the App Association’s communications assistant, and am loving life in DC. Now, there’s no way I could adjust to my new home without a phone full of apps – which is of course appropriate seeing as where [...]

This followed a letter sent Monday from ACT | The App Association and leading mobile health companies to Congress. In response to the swift action taken by Congressmen Marino and DeFazio, App Association Executive Director Morgan Reed issued the following statement: The App Association is pleased that Congress is strongly [...]
