Dear Senator Wyden,

Thank you for showing your strong support for the Oregon technology community at the recent Tech Lunch in Eugene. I was impressed with your willingness to push back on government overreach into our citizens’ private data.

As such, I hope you can cosponsor the LEADS Act (S.512) which addresses the Department of Justice’s claim that it can compel U.S. tech companies to violate privacy laws where they operate overseas. Should this overreach go unchallenged, it would give foreign countries a reason to ban U.S. cloud providers that we rely upon to sell products and services.

Passage of this bill would reasonably balance the needs of law enforcement with consumer privacy rights. Most importantly, it would ensure American companies are never in a position where they are forced to break the law overseas. This issue affects everyone in the mobile ecosystem and it’s critical for our industry that the LEADS Act is passed.

Take Action
