“We are disappointed by the Senate’s retreat from supporting small businesses and innovation in AI” said Morgan Reed, president of ACT | The App Association. “This is a setback for our members and other small tech companies that are the leading edge of AI solutions across every industry from healthcare to agriculture to supply chain management. It’s not ideal. No pause means asking small businesses to navigate a patchwork of state laws and conflicting or missing definitions of what governments mean when they use the term “AI”. That is a damaging environment for progress. We will continue our advocacy for a positive policy environment that gives innovative companies the clarity and confidence they need to invest and maintain U.S. leadership in AI.”
