The European Union (EU) is planning to implement additional laws targeting global online platforms. How will these new rules affect local players such as small app developers, tech small to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs), and potential future European digital champions?

One of these new laws, the Digital Markets Act (DMA), will radically change how digital platforms can operate in the EU. The DMA will create new obligations for ‘gatekeeping’ platforms, which will have far-reaching consequences. Not only will these obligations impact gatekeepers’ business models, but also those of their business users, including small app developers and tech SMEs.

The App Association wants to improve the understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the app economy, and which solutions we can contribute as a community of innovators. That’s why we want to bring your perspective and on-the-ground experience into the conversation.

Please join us on the App Makers Tour of Europe to engage with key influencers and decision makers.

How

We will connect you with app makers and policymakers from your country to discuss how we can create a Digital Markets Act that works for everyone, with a focus on benefiting smaller tech companies.

A panel of European app makers will open the discussion alongside App Association leadership, followed by a question-and-answer session with participants. Each event will take place online and will include a discussion on key principles for a functioning Digital Markets Act.
