RIM Announces BlackBerry 10 Launch Date

The Washington Post reported today about RIM’s announced January 30 launch date for BlackBerry 10. The new operating system will be accompanied by two new devices signaling that the Canadian manufacturer plans an aggressive push to reclaim lost marketshare. Further groundwork has been laid for a big splash with the BB10 launch as RIM has already received advanced Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS 140-2) certification. The National Institute of Standards and Technology sets this communications security standard sought by some of BlackBerry’s largest clients – federal agencies in Washington. This will be reassuring to developers readying BB10 apps for next year’s launch.
