I just returned from a vacation in Panama and was lucky enough to spend some time in the Boquete area. It is one of the best places in the world to see interesting birds and other wildlife. One day, we went on a hike to see the wildlife with a guide. He tried to attract birds by using an app on his Blackberry that had thousands of different bird calls categorized by type of bird.

When I arrived home, I found an app made for my iPhone that could do the same thing (and so much more) to help identify the birds in my own back yard and learn more about them. Green Mountain Digital in partnership with the National Audobon Society produced an app with a boatload of information. Really informative and, if you have any interest in birds, a must-have app. They also have apps to help identify plants and mammals. Perfect for those family vacations to national parks. Educational, informative and fun!
