To our members, the wider app and IoT community, and friends around the world,
First, we hope you and your loved ones are safe and staying home.
ACT | The App Association, like many other workplaces, is operating remotely due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, remote work is not out of the ordinary for our staff. While most of our staff is in our Washington, DC, headquarters, we also have full time remote staff in Oregon, California, Arizona, and our European Union staff based in Brussels, Belgium.
That fact doesn’t make this any less challenging of a time. We are all facing a unique set of pressures to find balance and stillness in a turbulent environment and seeking new ways to communicate, work, and monitor our health and wellness.
Many of our members are working to address issues arising from the COVID-19 outbreak. We have members working on the front lines to provide telehealth support and resources. Other members are offering their services and expertise to businesses that need to pivot to a digital presence, with many of these resources coming at no charge.
Not all of our members can move into these new challenges without reexamining their business models and customers, and some are pivoting to find new value for consumers and clients. Since many of our members are small businesses, they too are seeking guidance from the federal government on both large-scale economic relief and personal financial assistance.
Today we are releasing a new resource to catalog the efforts of App Association members to address this changing global landscape and provide those members with the information they need to continue serving their clients and consumers. Along with this resource, our App Association staff is developing a series of blog posts highlighting their personal approach to working, educating, and socializing from a virtual environment.
We will update this resource regularly and encourage you to share it widely. We are all in this together, and the app ecosystem will continue to find innovative ways to serve the public.
Wishing you the best in this tough time,
Morgan Reed, on behalf of ACT | The App Association staff
